SEASON 2 · EPISODE 6
Psychotherapist Matt Hussey reflects on the relationship, vulnerability and the ways therapists grow through their work.
ABOUT THE EPISODE
Psychotherapist Matt Hussey reflects on the relationship, vulnerability and the ways therapists grow through their work.
Psychotherapist Matt Hussey and Natalie reflect on vulnerability, power and the relationship between therapist and client. Vulnerability in this context is not a reason to remove professional boundaries; it is an invitation to think carefully about how the therapist shows up and how the relationship is experienced.
Attention to power helps keep the client's work central. It also gives therapists a way to examine moments of uncertainty or emotional impact without assuming that professionalism means being untouched by the work.
The episode brings evidence-based practice into conversation with personal and professional growth. Clinical knowledge matters, while therapists also develop through reflection on what happens in their work and how they respond to it.
These are not competing routes to becoming a better therapist. The conversation invites practitioners to remain accountable to evidence while continuing to learn from relationships, supervision and the parts of clinical work that challenge their existing understanding.
